Wine Review: LaStella 2013 Moscato D’Osoyoos

Are we all over our New Years resolutions to cut back on the alcohol yet? Yes? Okay good.

Because I have a wine that’s going to right tickle your fancy. Ow ow! And for under $20 a bottle too. If that’s not a reason to celebrate something this month, I don’t know what is.

LaStella 2013 Moscato D’Osoyoos Review - SheEats.ca

The Wine: LaStella 2013 Moscato D’Osoyoos. 85% Moscato Bianco (aka muscat blanc a petit grains) -15% Muscat ottonel.

Region: Black Sage Bench, Osoyoos Lake District (Okanagan, BC, Canada).

Price: $17.00 by the case or $20.00 direct from the Winery.

Tasting Notes: If you thought Moscato had to be sweet, you thought wrong. Inspired by the renowned Moscato d’Asti of the Piedmont region in Italy, there is an overall fruitiness to the wine – mainly ripe pear and juicy peach. But the bright, crisp acidity and cunning aromatics cut through the sweetness of the wine before the sugar burns your taste buds.

Meal Recommendations: Displaying a light effervescence and less than 10% alcohol content, this wine pairs perfectly with finger food or after lunch with a bloomy, soft cheese. Mirroring the tasting notes, I poured it along side a dessert of Wine Poached Pears and Creamy Ricotta. However, the light sweetness also goes beautifully with spicier food like Mexican, Indian or even Thai.

Overall Thoughts: The LaStella 2013 Moscato D’Osoyoos is a fun, brilliant wine for very good value. I’ll definitely be pouring this at Summer BBQs instead of the bog standard white wine. Or when watching the ever-decaying-just-can’t-help-myself new episodes of Grey’s Anatomy.

What are your feelings on wines with bubbles? What are you celebrating this month? The return of bad TV? The return of good TV? What’s in your glass right now?

Disclosure of Material Connection: Entoecca Wineries & Resorts DID provide me a review bottle of wine at no cost. Generally speaking, I dislike sparkling wine. I think it has something to do with the lack of sweetness. When I taste bubbles, I expect sugar! This is probably why I hate sparkling water too 😛

I can understand that Shareba. What we expect really dictates if something tastes good or not, doesn’t it? Just one of those things 🙂 Thanks for taking the time to say hi – great to see you!!

You have sold this wine Kristy 🙂 Sign me up for a case. Seriously though, I’m going to hunt this down and give it a try.

Luckily I had no misconceptions about giving up booze as a New Year’s resolution.

Score Becky! I know sometimes they can be a little pricy – as can my wine habit. So I was stoked to find such a gem of a wine 🙂

Hmnn. Love moscato, and bubbles, makes good breakfast wine. Ever had breakfast wine? It’s a thing I swear. I’ll be putting this on my list to drink as soon as I’m done 30 days of paleo. Perfect post detox beverage!

I have never had breakfast wine. I will definitely make it a thing if it isn’t already. But you say it is Holley so I’m in.

PS. Hope the 30 days are going well!

I have water in my glass right now, although I sure do wish it was wine. Even better is wine with bubbles.

I can turn water INTO wine… Oh no wait. That’s someone else.

PS. I have water too. Lots of it! High five for waters all around!

Thanks for the heads up… I traditionally do not go for the sweet wines, but this sounds as if it isn’t so. As to wine with bubbles…I adore and yes, it’s good have good TV back! As to what’s in my cup right now…it’s a concoction of bourbon, honey and lemon for this stinking cold:) Thanks for asking………….:)

Oh my Jacqueline! I love your sicky concoction. I hope you’re feeling rested and better and well cleansed. I too like lemon and honey when I’m sick. I like bourbon always.
