Caramel Cookbook Giveaway Winner

So evidently cookbook reviews and giveaways are kind of my thing now. Or as the kids say, “it’s my jam”.

They’re making regular weekly appearances and I hope you don’t mind it too much. Or better yet, I hope they get you stoked to either go grab yourself a copy or to think about how important books really are. Not just reading material but actual, literal books. Things you can grab and smell and take in the bath and not end up a fried little piggy if you drop it in the bath water.

I have this thing with books. I have an e-reader too. But man alive, do I have a THING for books. Not only are they cultural artifacts (it’s incredible how much you can tell about a place and time and the people that existed then just by carefully reading one) but they’re also works of art. Real art. Words and photographs and stories that mean more than just food.

Admittedly, I love my computer. There’s great value and entertainment in sharing my recipes with you online and let’s face it, if it weren’t for our food blogs or online media, we would never have met. Unless of course it was written in the stars, and in which case, boo-yah!

But there’s something just so tactiley (is that a word?) pleasurable about physical cookbooks. It’s this love – nay, obsession – I want to share with you. And I want you to share yours with me. Even the dirty ones. Ow ow!

Alright, enough seriousness. Life’s too short – and I have too many bad jokes to crack – to keep on keepin’ on this way. Point being: I hope you enjoy the cookbooks I share with you and that they make you hungry. End scene.

Let’s get to the part that you showed up for today, yes? The winner of Caramel, the newest cookbook from Carole Bloom is…

Meghan McCarthy

(she’s kind of amazing, a dear friend and I’m so STOKED she won!)

Thank you everyone who participated! You’re kinda my jam too.

Do you have any cookbooks or recipe authors you admire? What kinda cookbooks get you super stickety-stoked? What’s important to you when it comes to cookbooks or recipes? Do you prefer to read recipes online or in books? Do you have an e-reader? Are you enjoying this cookbook series? Is it too much? Spill it!

HOORAY for Boobies and Caramel Cookbooks. I figure the two go hand in hand anyway.

I am thrilled and when it comes to food recipes, I just want to flip through a book, look at pictures, drool a little and dream of all the things I will make. So yes, books, cookbooks specifically, are my jam. 🙂

Sure my kindle is nice & far more portable than say the usual 6 books I tend to carry with me, but it’s definitely NOT the same as a real book. And definitely NOT the same as cookbooks. Which are all over my house. There’s the canning cookbooks, the baking cookbooks (three just focused on chocolate!), what I like to call ‘church lady cookbooks’ that are collections of recipes churches sell as fundraisers, the multiple copies & editions of classics like Joy of Cooking, Betty Crocker……I love cookbooks.
