Are you eating yams or sweet potatoes? Excellent question. This week on She Eats Loudly we’re talking all about sweet potatoes! Or yams. Or ….? Shit. Join me to find out when they’re in season, how to choose the perfect sweet potato, how to prepare them and why my ass won’t stop expanding (read: it has nothing to do with sugar. Though it may have something to do with Scratch Roasted Sweet Potato Pasta). Oh yeah, and I get down and dirty with the difference between yams and sweet potatoes as well as why you should eat homemade pasta instead of the ultra-processed food-like store brands. Even if the pasta you make at home is “white”. No kidding. Listen here or click the button below to grab it from iTunes and in the meantime, Eat Loudly.

March 31, 2014 at 2:29 PMThanks Kristy-I’m so glad you didn’t throw in taro to further cloud the issue. We could buy it in the grocery store while we lived in Hawaii.
I’m also delighted that your Sweet Potato pasta includes actual flour-it’s amazing how many people see my kale pizza dough and are surprised that it’s pizza dough . . . with kale in it . . . not a pile of kale that I’m calling “dough” and covering up with pizza toppings.
Oh! And thanks for the shout out for my sweet potato salsa! I’m having the best fun making appetizers out of all my CSA farm share vegetables.

April 10, 2014 at 10:37 AMI don’t know what a taro is Kirsten but I’m going to google it!
Also, hahahahahahaha…. Flour is a welcome ingredient in my kitchen. I can’t imagine a pizza only being supported by kale. How is that even possible?!

March 31, 2014 at 4:55 PMI am still laughing girl! You are soooooo funny! This podcast made me laugh out loud and I really needed that today!. I do love Yams! They’re my favorite. But the way you describe pasta sounds awesome to! How much cheese did you say? -lol!
I have to say you are so ‘real’ and I just love your personality! Thanks for everything 😉

April 10, 2014 at 10:39 AMhehehe thank you Melissa! A crap ton? Maybe? It’s my new favourite way to describe pretty much anything that needs “a lot”.
…can’t lay claim to that though. I’m pretty sure I heard Meghan at Clean Eats Fast Feets say it on Instagram once and I stole it 😉
Thank YOU for everything! I’m so glad we’re friends.
