One of the worst things you can do when hosting a holiday party is slacking off in the snack department, forcing your guests to imbibe 3 or 4 drinks before you offer them anything to eat.
Anytime I host a social gathering there are not only 16 incredible drinks to choose from (okay, that might not be quite accurate – though do I usually try to have one great cocktail to serve when they show up), but there are also a few plates available for muching on before the main meal. Everyone likes to eat = happy guests! Plus, if they’re munching away on canapes, it takes the stress off the hostess in case the main course takes 15 or 20 minutes longer than anticipated. AND no one gets smashed before we eat! Win Win Win!
…. Well, maybe that’s not entirely true. As my good friend Haydn pointed out the other day, our friends get wasted when they have to pay for booze, never mind when they bring their own. But for most people, having a few canapes or appies available when people arrive will remedy this issue.
So what should you serve as appies for your par-tay guests this holiday season? Well, I’m glad you asked! Here are 14 amazing (and ridiculously pinnable) appetizer and snack recipes that you absolutely must try!
If you missed the opportunity to submit your best appie recipes, never fear! There’s a linky tool at the bottom of the features where you can include your posts now! As yesterday, I’ll start us off:
What’s the ONE thing you have to serve (or snack on) over the holidays?
