Kristy’s Cold Weather Vodka Cocktail (One a Day Keeps the Doctor Away)

…And the AA number posted to the refrigerator.

This post & associated recipe may not quite be what you brought your school teacher in grade school or what the doctor ordered for good health, but it’s definitely what the cold weather demands. Let’s go over the ingredient list, yes?

Vodka: Do we really need a reason? Self explanatory, my friends.

Apples: Full of fiber for good poops. They’re also loaded with anti-oxidants for your liver to fight off the oxidents in the booze and good for your eye sight – very important when beer booze goggles are present. But let’s face it, 3 of these and the abominable snowman starts lookin’ pretty darn good.

Fresh ginger: It not only helps boost your immune system – very important during cold and flu season – but also reduces upset stomach and and motion sickness nausea. Goodbye bed spins! Also reduces headaches. Another unfortunate side effect of alcohol consumption. But whatevs! You got ginger!

Limes: Great for alleviating the symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis. Lime will also help prevent scurvy. Something we’re all at risk from during the holidays between the cookies and turkey and cookies. They are also loaded with potassium, helping to defeat seasonal depression, forgetfulness (read: boozy-loss of memory) and calms the nervous system. Hello, family functions.

Orange: Vitamin C, duh.

Cinnamon: Famous for blood sugar regulation – an important attribute when the garnish for the drink is laced with the sweet stuff. It also contains iron, manganese and calcium. Plus it tastes good – can you get any more “holiday” than cinnamon? Lastly, with the parties and booze flowing this time of year, ladies I have one word: excess yeast. Ouch. Eat cinnamon to help nix that uncomfortable condition.

So you see? It’s all good.

Side note: It tastes fantastic.
